Why does God allow suffering?

On Wednesday 21st June, we held the first of a number of occasional outreach events called The Big Question.
Following a delicious meal at SUDA Delicatessen & World Kitchen, we asked why is there so much pain in the world? Why does God allow it?
We welcomed Richard Brewster to give a short talk on the subject, followed by a question and answer discussion, as we ask the big question: Why does God allow suffering?
Listen again to the talk here. Listen again to the Q&A here.
Don’t fall!

Today we began a new teaching series in the bible book of 2 Peter called Danger warning! This week, as Richard preached, we saw how God has given us all we need to make sure that we don’t fall!

The Future
Today, as Rich preached, we concluded our sermon series looking at Abraham’s journey of faith.
This week we saw that Abraham is now old and about to die. What will happen to God’s promises? God shows his faithfulness by providing a wife for Isaac. He will continue and complete the work he has begun.
The Sacrifice
Today, as Richard preached, we continued our sermon series looking at Abraham’s journey of faith. This week we saw how Abraham’s faith in God’s promises faces it’s greatest test yet. But, Abraham demonstrates his faith in offering his son Isaac as a sacrifice, despite him being the one through whom the promises will be fulfilled. God spares Isaac, but there are close parallels with God’s own son Jesus, whom he did not spare.
